My name is Janis Bačkurs and I am a supervisor at Modexpress. In my position as Supervisor I am responsible for the ins and outs of one of the warehouses of Modexpress.
5 years ago I started my career at Modexpress on the expedition department as a logistic employee, I performed all common shipping activities; from unloading containers to picking and packing goods. I had a lot of ideas on how to improve things and my supervisor of that time noticed that I picked up the work well and came up with improvements so he invested in me so I could grow to team leader. After having worked as an Expedition team leader for a while, I got the chance to become a supervisor and of course I grabbed it with both hands, I am still very happy that I took this challenge!
My working days are very interesting, because every day is different. I have my daily tasks, but I also find it very important to help everyone who asks for my help, I do that with a smile; because in this way we form a strong team together. I always try to set a good example and inspire people. As a supervisor, it is important to stay positive and do your job with a smile, even in difficult situations or busy periods, because then the people around you will do the same and happy team members are the most productive team members.
I really like that at Modexpress we have a mix of a multicultural society and is a family business. It makes my workday interesting because while I’m working I’m part of a close family and am learning about other cultures. No matter where you come from, with the right attitude you can always find your way in at Modexpress!
